Creating pathways to a brighter future.
Catherine Freeman gave a brief overview of the Catherine Freeman Foundation at the final WWMG, Learn Lead and Succeed business event series in Melbourne on May 8. This was the final event for the autumn period, with the popular series to resume in October 2008 throughout Australia. Catherine was very proud to be a guest at the business event and was keen to give the attendees an overview of the Catherine Freeman Foundations vision to provide superior educational opportunities for young indigenous females
To date the WWMG have raised in excess of $20,000.00 for the Catherine Freeman Foundation. The registration fee for the events was donated to the CFF in addition to funds raised from raffles and other donations on the day. These funds will be used to facilitate 2 boarding school scholarships for Palm Island female students; the program targeted to commence in 2009. WWMG has a 2008 target of $50,000.00, which will fund 2 scholarships.
The Catherine Freeman Foundation is partnering with Australian Indigenous Education Foundation to deliver the scholarship program, an initiative by Andrew Penfold who pioneered the highly successful St Josephs Indigenous Fund.
Larke Reimer, Head of Westpac Women’s Markets Groups was thrilled with the generosity of the attendees.
“The first round of the Learn, Lead and Succeed event series has provided us with an excellent start towards raising much needed funds for the Catherine Freeman Foundation.
We are extremely proud to partner the Catherine Freeman Foundation, its commitment to assisting indigenous Australians in achieving their goals represents a great fit with the Women’s Markets team’s core values.
Westpac’s Women’s Markets team understand the importance of education and its invaluable role in providing a pathway to unlimited opportunities for young indigenous women.
Going forward, we will continue our mission to reach our fund raising target for the foundation. We are delighted to be able to help the Catherine Freeman Foundation in the achievement of its goals.”
