CFF takes part in the Healing Foundation workshop.
July 14 and 15 2009, CFF’s Svea Pitman in Melbourne attended The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation Workshop.
On the first anniversary of the Apology, the Hon Jenny Macklin MP, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs announced the establishment of a Healing Foundation. Since this announcement the Minister has convened a Development Team who will work with the Government between May and December 2009 to consult with key organisations and individuals as well as conduct community workshops across Australia to listen to community ideas for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation. A report will be provided to the Government on the consultations and recommendations for the establishment and remit of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation.
